I use NCH Express Talk, version 3.01. I want to contact someone with a Gizmo ID, but I'm wondering if there's a way to do this without requiring the other computer's IP address. Any advice on this?

Tyler I don't think you need the other computer's IP address. I have a Gizmo ID and it takes incoming calls to wherever I log in, whether it is from a PC, wi-fi phone or my Nokia. I haven't had to put in an IP for making such calls.

I hope this helps.

That sort of helps, but not really. I guess what I mean is: Is there a certain format for entering Gizmo ID's into another SIP program like ExpressTalk? I mean: Do I have to enter something like
some_name@gizmoproject.com
into such other SIP program?

Yes, enter <some-id@gizmoproject.com>. That should work. For instance, entering echo@gizmoproject.com connects sjphone to gizmo's loop back thing.

Tried that here in NCH Express Talk version 3.01, and I got an error saying "Call attempt has timed-out. The server is not replying." Could it be because I didn't enter my Gizmo login info into the program? I'll try that and see what happens.

I just tried entering my Gizmo login info into ExpressTalk, and the following error gets reported in my ExpressTalk connection log:
14:21:02 Attempting to register sip:tyler14@gizmoproject.com
14:21:44 Server gizmoproject.com did not respond to register (sip:tyler14@gizmoproject.com)
14:21:44 Check server details for that line
I entered my Gizmo ID and password exactly as they are, and I tried both "gizmoproject.com" and "gizmo5.com" for the server.

NVM everyone, I fixed my problem by using the server information used by hardware adapters to connect to Gizmo. Found it in their KB.

For anyone else who might encounter this problem in the future, here is the information you will need:
Proxy: proxy01.sipphone.com:5060
Stun Server: stun01.sipphone.com:3478
SIP Number: your Gizmo SIP number, without dashes (e.g., 17473232466), accessible from the account overview page when you sign into Gizmo's members section
Password: your Gizmo password
